I have had a constant problem since upgrading (format and install) my home SME server to 7.0. After about a week of running I find that e-mail gets slower and slower to respond, POP, IMAP and WebMail all get very slow. At the same time if I try to log into the Server-Manager that will be VERY slow as well. And so after about a week of running I have to reboot the server.
Dell Server hardware (year and a half old, they had a sale. What can I say?) 1gig mem, 160gig SATA drive. Setup for Server Only. Clam AV and Spamassassin running.
At this point I don't even know what anyone would need to have a chance to diagnose this problem. Any log files to look at, or tests to run? This problem never occurred under SME 6.X that I ran before.
One other problem that may be related. I have found that sometimes when my email client (I use Mozilla via IMAP, and my wife uses Thunderbird via POP) attempts to retrieve email we will get a "Mail server disconnected" notice. Starting and restarting the client may help, if done often enough. What seems to do it every time is log into WebMail. In fact it seems that just the act of logging in is enough to "Jump Start" the process and let our email clients retrieve our e-mail. Like I say I don't know if the two problems are related or not.
Anyone have a cure for this.
