These days I will change my ISP. So, I'll have to change my network configuration on SME7. What's the proper way to make it? How can I change my IP address, Netmask, GW and DNS? Shall I also modify any iptables or routing configuration?

Looking /etc/sysconfig/network it says me

The same message is for /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1

So how could I change my network settings?

Just go to admin pannel. Use putty and log in as admin not root. Then you have to configure your server (option 2). And type the new info when you get to the pages refering to your isp and type of connection.

I'v just tried to do it. When I log in like admin, it shows me the next message:

I understand that some console items are mised?! How can I repare it? I'm using SME7.

Log in as root and check what you have in /sbin/e-smith/console-menu-items.

This indicates that your system has somehow been corrupted - some critical files appear to be missing. Have you been removing files or packages from the command line?

No Charlie... I didnt. It seems to be some hard driver problem. I'm going to change it tomorrow.

I still say that you should check in this directory and see if all files are in place. If not you can just copy them and it should work.

You are making an unreasonable assumption that no other files are missing, and that no files have been corrupted.

If any files which are owned by 'root' are missing or have the incorrect contents, you should assume that all system files are suspect.

But he has to start fixing his problem and this would be the place to start for me. Maybe it would fix his problem. If not he can still do something else.

The place to start fixing the problem is to fix the hardware failure or system compromise which caused the files to be missing in the first place. In either case a fresh install would be a good idea.
