SATA II supported?

I want to use SME 7 software RAID with an Intel mobo and 4 SATAII 250Gb drives. Will this work?

Probably not with SATA II you may have to put the jumper on compatible SATA standard.

Install and find out!

The ongoing theme is that SME (and CentOS) will install on SATAII.

HOWEVER, it will not stay running for very long.  Reports state from 1 to 5 days and then problems start to pop up including kernel panics.

I would not try it until SATA II has better support.

Jump the drives to regular SATA and install.  When SATA II is fully supported you MAY be able to change the jumpers back to SATA II.

Thanks... !!! I will do this. I read this post and I think I find a resons why My server won't boot with the new kernel... But works with the old one... LIBATA something like that... give us a Kernel Panic...

I will try next week to put the JUMPER to SATA I (150Mb/s) operation mode only...
