Trying to install X on SME
« on: January 30, 2007, 04:48:50 PM »
I have been following the HOW to on installing the KDE or Knome GUI on my sme7. However It appears that the new version I can download is CENTOS 4.4 on 4.3.

I thought well there cant be much of a change anyway so I down loaded it. Well first thing that does not exist is a file called creatrepo* . Of any version. I dont know what this rpm does but is it necessary and is a new HOW going to gave to be written for 4.4.

Steve do you remember this ( http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=35394.0 ) topic? Doubleposting won't help you and the answers stay the same.
"It should just work" if it doesn't report it. Thanks!

Thank you for your response.
Im not sure what you mean but are you saying that you are unaware of anyone getting 4.4 to work? I went to the web site but could not find 4.3.

It appears that the Version of CentOS that the How to talks about is 4.3 but the curent version is 4.4 Believing that there would be little difference between these versions IM trying to install it. However there do appear to be some differnces that I dont know how to deal with.

Anyone know how to resolve this problem.

Regards

It's not a sensible thing for anyone to do. I hope that nobody is trying to get it to work.
