Forgotten admin password!

I am a prune!
Because my "usual" fairly secure password was not considered secure enough for SME server admin user I created a new one
And
I've forgotten it in less than a week!

Any clues how to get it back!
I still have the root password!

I need admin password to turn on ssh on the local network connection so I can rsync the data across from my old server to the new one. Most of the data went across but it stopped half way through and I'd don't want to copy the whole lot again (200GB+)

The root password should be the same as the admin password on SME Server.... so to me it seems you haven't forgotten it after all. If you need to reset your password have a look at this thread: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=31959.0

OK, I could have done that. I use another Linux based product where the admin user is not a standard linux user, just one for webmin. Now I feel double silly for wasting an evening!!!

If admin and root passwords are different, then someone must have somehow changed the admin password without using the SME interface. If you didn't do it, then you probably have a significant security problem to deal with. If you did do it, then you'd be wise not to do it again - use the SME interface.
