Hello I'm just 5 days into SME, but it's a great and easy to manage server.
As with Freenas you get things like SMART support for harddisks, is there a way to get SMART support to SME. My server's in my understanding just a better NAS system for linvdr and a printer sharing system for some windows clients, so there's really no need for the disk running all the time.

Ok, seems to be too much out of the way.
I read in some other forum about noflushd, which apparently didn't the job. I understand that getting harddisks to standby isn't the normal thing one would do on a server, nevertheless it should be possible.
Anyone out there with a clue ?

I very much doubt you will get the hard drives to stop spinning, because there is just too much going on. The best way ultimately may be to bide your time with mechanical disks, and wait for solid-state disks to come down in price. That way it won't matter if they continue to virtually spin.
