Error COnfirmation....
« on: March 08, 2007, 08:04:18 AM »
Hi all,

I was working on my SME server through a terminal session this afternoon. I was able to login as per usual, but found that it was not behaving in the normal fashion. I decided to go to the console and found I had the following error:

hda: drive_cmd: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeeComplete Error }
hda: drivecmd: error=0x04Abotrted Command

The email, gateway and Firewall services seem to be functioning correctly for the moment.

I have seen this error on SuSE before and when I have gone to restart the server, it hasn't came up. I'm scared to restart the server as it will obviously interfere with one of the vital services for the College. Is there a sure way that I can restart the server knowing that it wil come back up?

I'm expecting that I will have to rebuild it but I don't want to if I don't have to  :cry:

Have you tried to run the smartd and smartctl commands found in the forums reguarding SMART capabilities on the drives??

Is the server running scsi or ide drives??

Hi all,

As I couldn't get the server to do anything and since it is actually a virtual server running off a VMWARE enterprise server, I decided to go back to a previous snapshot of the server. The problem appears to have been a corruption somewhere in the O/S. Everything is back to how it was about a month ago.

So to answer the question of what type of drives are being used, the server image is actually stored on a Fibre channel JBOD, connected to a HBA on a Server running VMWARE.

Thanks for you suggestions!!!!   :D

Hi all,

The problem has returned. I think that the error may be caused from the hard drive being at full capacity. I was wondering how I would go about deleting the logs to free up space on the Hard drive as I cannot delete any email data due to the College being on holidays ATM.
