Topic: More diald problems v4b3

I have just installed 4b3 (from v3.1).
With v3.1 I used to switch off the modem to stop it dialing at times. When I needed
the connection I would power on the modem and it would always dial on demand.

With v4b3, if I turn on the modem it no longer dials, no matter if I ping an external
IP from the command prompt or any other request.
I have to telnet to the server and execute diald, before it picks up the line again.

Could there be a difference in the two versions of diald being used that is causing
this ?

When the modem is left off for a few hours the message ppp:ppp0 not active appears over console 1.
I have had an instance that the modem connects, but no data can be passed. A reboot solved this problem.
It seems that V4 is slower on data throughput over the modem link than V3, although it could be a general ISP slowdown that I am experiencing at the moment. I will conduct a few tests and report further.
