http://myservername/user-password error
« on: March 19, 2007, 11:34:06 PM »
Hi,

I am having a problem with https://myservername/user-password.

When I try to change a password I get the following error.

Operation status report
An error occurred while attempting to change your password. Please make sure that the old password entered is correct.

I have tried this with a couple of test accounts. I can change the password from inside server-manager-users and everything works as it should.

This server started as a 7.0 and has been YUM upgraded through 7.1.2. I know that the user-password page worked at least through 7.1. I am experiencing the same problems with IE 7.0 and Firefox 2.0.0.2.

I have searched the forums to no avail. Does anybody have any suggestions.

I will start a bug as soon as I can login to the bugtracker (it seems to be down just now)

Thanks,

Royce H.

Hi,

I have they same problem. Currently i have installed 7.1.3 with e-smith-base-4.18.0-25.el4.sme. In the bugtracker it says it would work with e-smith-base-4.18.0-53.el4.sme. Can i just only update the e-smith-base not totally upgrade to 7.2? is there any consequences that i might encounter?

Rocel

Yes, if you only select that it should drag in all required dependencies. But why would you do so? Why not upgrade to 7.2?

Yes, your system not being updated to the latest standards, there might be security updates in it as well.

Kryptos,

I have updated to 7.3 which fixed my user-password problem. I would recommend going the full route unless you have some modification that you know will not work with it.

I love to update but im afraid as of now. As this is our primary email server. Many people rely on this server. Is the update of e-smith-base is the same as changing the etc/pam.d/system-auth just what this link have said?
