cant get the server installed...
Get the "kernel panic - not syncing : Attemted to kill init!" Fault
Have looked in the bug tracker and found some bugs (2047 and 538) close to this one but this is my first encounter with this operating system so any help would be appreciated.
I have 2 questions.
1.
Raid1: raid set md1 active with 2 out of 2 mirrors
mdadm :/dev/md1 has been started with 2 drives
Making device-mapper control node
Scanning logical volumes
Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...
cdrom : open failed
Found volume group "main" using metadata type lvm2
Activating logical volumes
2 logical volume(s) in volume group "main" now active
creating root device
Mounting root filesystem
mount: error 6 mounting ext3
mount: error 2 mounting none
switching to new root
switchroot : mount failed : 22
Unmount /initrd/dev failed:2
Kernel panic - not syncing : Attemted to kill init!
How do i correct this fault.??
have tried both the sme server (2.6.9-42.0.3.Elsmp) and the sme server-up (2.6.9-42.0.3.El)
with the same result.

(The HD have been installed with Windows SBS before installing SME server) found this :

If it was ever installed on a Windows machine then you will need to clear the MBR first before installing it.
From the linux command prompt, type the following:
#dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdx bs=512 count=1"
how do i get to a promt where i can type this ??
is this why i get the 1. fault ??
Server: 2x2.13GHz processors, 1024Mb ram, 2 x 239GB HDD, Intel Matrix Storage manager (RAID)
SME server: 7.1 (2.6.9-42.0.3)
