While looking over the features of SME, I think I have finally found the replacement for our old family Qube3. One question regarding email though:
The Qube had a nice "SMTP-after-POP" feature - remote users could only send SMTP outgoing mail for 15 or so minutes after they had signed into their POP mail account. This allows the SMTP server to be used remotely to send email, but doesn't leave it open all the time for relaying, etc. Any idea if SME or a contrib supports this sort of feature?
Is there a better way to allow remote users to easily retrieve and send email via email clients like Thunderbird, et al? Another problem is my ISP blocks the standard SMTP port (so I have to do some port forwarding voodoo) and I'm not certain, but I suspect the ISP has also blocked ports for secure POP and SMTP.
Thanks!
Dan
