Topic: Can I authenticate to the LDAP server on SME 7?

I would like to use the LDAP server on SME 7 to authenticate from an external application.  i.e. I want to login to the external applciaiton with a suername and password and hacve that verified against the username and password on the MSE 7 Server.

Is this possible?  

I have tried and so far the best I have is "..user not found..."

No that's not possible at the moment.

Do you know if this is on the list for future releases of SME Server?
It would seem to be a very useful feature and save having all of those (forgetable) passwords.

There are quit a lot of users who already asked the same, it is probably already on the new feature requests. Funding would do a lot i suppose...

Can't resist giving you a great news, but keep it secret for the moment.


Here, at Firewall-Services we'll begin to develop an LDAP connector in early june. We aim to finish the first step for end of August (some test versions will be availaible before).
Next step will be to be compliant with the AD architecture, but it's for the future.

Any help, suggestion, code contribs or features request are welcome.
