You should use the RPM version ( easier ... ) : check your mail.
I did not test the version 3.6.2 yet, so I suggest you to use the same version
as I am currently using.
I am also newbie, I know that my 'solution' is working, but I am not sure it is the
best way to solve the problem ...
If experts on the forum have other ideas, you are welcome !

in one specific directory i.e. /usr/rpm/ddclient... . rpm
-Install RPM #rpm -i ddclient... .rpm
-Configure the ddclient.conf in /etc
using your DynDns member data
-Modify /etc/rc.d/rc.local, adding following inputs
...
/sbin/chkconfig --add ddclient
/etc/rc.d/init.d/ddclient start
...
-After modification in ddclient.conf ( To enable modifs ) ==> #/etc/ddclient restart
-Check in the server web, 'log view' the messages, filtering with 'ddc'.
you should find traces of the ddclient actions. Also in the admin mail.
