SME performance testing
« on: May 29, 2007, 06:38:27 AM »
Greetings!

We have a server that is becoming sluggish due to probably a performance bottleneck somewhere (either hard disk or network). Before blindly doing performance optimization. I was wondering if there is a way to test this?

After searching the forums. I read about HDPARM (wow, havent used that for a loooong time). But this tool is more a benchmark of your hdd. It doesnt show you if that spec is "red lining".. Or when the server is giving all it's got but it's not good enough. Do we have a "performace log / monitor / counter" like in windows?

On the network aspect. I dont see anything to monitor or test. The most I saw in the forums is reading the performance of a ftp client. Please help? TIA
