SAIL/Asterisk, which versions for the latest kernel?
« on: May 30, 2007, 04:01:46 PM »
Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me which versions of SAIL/Asterisk work with the latest kernel? That is which versions start at boot up, I am still having to restart asterisk manually after a reboot. Before I get flamed, I have tried the workarounds, but none seem to work for me.  :?
Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Del

SAIL/Asterisk, which versions for the latest kernel?

I'm running kernel 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL which I think is the most recent one together with anabri-asterisk-florz-1.2.10-7.i686 and anabri-asterisk-zappri-florz-1.2.6-6.i686.

I just copied /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.3.EL/extra and /misc (the files provided by anabri-asterisk-zappri-florz-1.2.6-6.i686) to /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.10.EL so the modules can be found. This works without any problems.

Why doesn't selintra provide an updated rpm? Are there any problems with this kernel?

I can't find /misc :?
Can you post the full path to this directory please. Thanks.

Sorry, I shortened this a bit... lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.10.EL/misc

copy /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.3.EL/extra/  to /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.10.EL/extra/

and

copy /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.3.EL/misc/ to lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.10.EL/misc/

Symlinks should also work I guess.

Hi kb-ohnemus,

That's strange I don't have a /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.3.EL/misc/  :?
Could it be due to the fact that I am running:
Quote
smeserver-asterisk-1.2.10-1.i686.rpm and smeserver-asterisk-zappri-MPP-1.2.6-1.i686.rpm
and you're running
Quote
anabri-asterisk-florz-1.2.10-7.i686 and anabri-asterisk-zappri-florz-1.2.6-6.i686

I guess you are right, I use a HFC-ISDN-card and therefore anabri-asterisk-zappri-florz-1.2.6-6.i686.rpm.
But you do have /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.3.EL/misc/ ? Can you start asterisk after copying that to /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.10.EL and rebooting with that kernel?

No I don't have this directory   But I do have lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.3.EL/extra/ but copying this to /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.10.EL/extra/ doesn't help, I still have to start asterisk manually :?  Any more ideas? Thanks.

That's because you aren't running Bristuff (ISDN) - for none-ISDN it is called /extra.

'cos we've been busy.  Seriously, we're working on a better loader which won't need you to do anything on a routine kernel change.

Best
