Topic: Admin can't access server-manager

for some reason I can no longer access the server-manager, either directly at the server or through a remote (but still on a local network) web browser.  Luckily I can still get in as root, so I installed (by hand) the Update4 for server 5.0 (I already had 2 and 3 installed).  

Doesn't admin have the same password as root? Why won't the server accept my password when logging in as admin?  Is there any way to re-set the admin password?

BTW I went through the configuration again, then ran the post-upgrade script, then rebooted.  No change.
