After placing a new install of the primary host and gateway for mophilly.com, SME 7.1.3, in service, the general speed of things on the LAN improved.
However, web browsers within the local network load pages very slowly. So far, no one outside has made mention of it, although one person on the outside said it loads fine.
Once the browser has connected with the server, page loads are often quicker. Not always, but sometimes. The behavior is observed in all browsers, on all LAN workstations.
Here is the set up:
SME server/gateway
DHCP is enabled, static IPs for LAN and WAN
HTTP Proxy is disabled.
Eth0 ---> cable modem
Eth1 ---> 8 port switch
Switch
---> Mac OS X Server 10.4.10
LAN use only, no firewall, DNS or DHCP. Httpd is running.
---> Wireless Access point
---> various other printers and workstations
The workstations use IP of the SME server as the primary DNS entry in their config's. Workstation user accounts are not necessarily SME user accounts.
Any ideas and suggestions are most welcome.
