Topic: Spamassassin & multiple domains

Is there anything that needs to be done to spamassassin when multiple domains are on the same server.

I have latest SME with all updates, and a machine with main domain and a second domain. Email sent to user@main blocked as spam, email sent to user@second comes through. It is almost as if SA is not checking the second domain.

Is it something I need to configure, or should I post this to the bugtracker?

There is nothing additional that needs to be done. All the mail will go through spamassassin unless you white list it.

Could it possibly be something with the RBL's then? something is active on the main domain stopping certain emails which are allowed through if they are sent to the second domain.

I seem to have a similar problem though in reverse !

Anything sent to the main domain for the server seems to get missed by spamassassin but anything sent through a secondary domain gets put through SA.

The main domain is being collected via POP3 (Dungog multi POP3 contrib) but the secondaries are receiving direct.

This seems to be happening on two separate 7.2 servers, both upgraded from 7.1.3

I don't want to report as a bug it if it is my stupidity rather than anything else.

Hello guys,

I've read the posts because I'm also having problems with spamassassin (see thread 'Spamfilter seems to have stopped working' if you're interested).

I have been searching the net and while I have not found a solutions to my problem I think I may have seen the solutions to your problem on a French-language SME site.  I'm based in Belgium, so French is no problem for me.  However, if you prefer in English, here is a link to the solutions which the guy proposed:

Please note - I have nearly no technical experience with SME - I've used it since version 5.6, but everything has always worked perfectly via the server-manager interface, so please consider carefully whether the article I have proposed really solves your problem.  I don't know enough to be sure, but it looks very similar.

Question is, how the hell can I change this ? Presumably somewhere in qmail there is something that tells it what is or isn't a local domain ?

Really need to get this one sorted out.

Please report a bug against the Dungog multi POP3 contrib.

You should also avoid fetchmail if at all possible.

Thanks for the reply. Could you kindly confirm whether mail collected from your ISP with POP3 / multi drop would normally be checked for spam/virus or not ?

From what I read in the link in the earlier post, it is suggested that may not be the case. I may just be stupid though !

My mails seem to be virus checked but ignored by Spamassassin. I am happy to post a bug to Dungog if you consider it to be a problem with their contrib.

I had no intention of moving to fetchmail but would like to get this resolved.
