No Incoming Calls - SAIL, IAX
« Reply #1 on: July 04, 2007, 05:15:19 PM »
Just reconfigured my SIP phone to connect to another remote SME box and pointed my VOIPTalk to it. incoming calls worked.  Remote server is behind IPCop again and SIP phone is as well.

Server spec:
SME 7.1 / 2.6.9-42.0.3.EL NO UPDATES
selintra-sail-2.1.14-425
smeserver-asterisk-1.2.10-3
smeserver-asterisk-zappri-MPP-1.2.6-1

Any ideas?

Hi NT

I can only assume its something to do with the firewall.  We have several 0845 numbers from Telappliant (Voiptalk) and they all work fine.  Only difference is we use our sme/asterisk box as a gateway into our network.

Anyhow....

here are the iax stanzas from one of our 0845 numbers....

Code: [Select]
[Tel2]
type=peer
host=iax.voiptalk.org
qualify=3000
canreinvite=no
username=xxxxxxxxx
fromuser=xxxxxxxxx
secret=xxxxxxxxxx
disallow=all
allow=ulaw
allow=alaw

[08458689435]
type=user
context=mainmenu

Hope these help

Best

Installed SME + Updates to 7.1.3
Installed VMWare Server
Installed guest system:

SME 7.1 NO UPDATES
selintra-sail-2.1.14-425
smeserver-asterisk-1.2.10-3
smeserver-asterisk-zappri-MPP-1.2.6-1

Incoming calls work.

So, Virtual machine behind the same firewall works fine but 7.1.3 + new SAIL doesn't.
????
Sorry, I'm still stuck.  Hope you're there Selintra!

Hmmm

Odd.  The IAX stanzas included above are from a 1.4 asterisk system and that system receives inbound telappliant 0845 calls every day (its running our main switch)

I guess the best advice we can give right now is to regress to 1.2.10 (we'll release 1.2.20 rpms probably this weeekend, with sail-2.1.14-492).  The 1.4 stuff is definitely still on the flakey side.  We certainly would not put it into a customer site, even though it's running on our office switch.  It kinda works but there are some biggish greenies in there.  Hopefully, we'll do some 1.4.4 rpms in the next week or two and see what they are like. For now tho', 1.2 is still our recommended production platform.

Kind Regards

These servers are all in Server-Only mode
OK, I'll try regressing but I don't seem to be able to find the 1.2 RPMs.  DOH!

<Edit> FYI, I also tried 7.1 - > 7.1.3 in VMWare with latest RPMs and still got no incoming calls.

Asterisk doesn't start - I guess it's Kernel module problems?

No it won't.  You need one of the later versions which figures out for itself which kernel is running....

Or you can just copy the extras directory from the 34.02 kernel image to the 55 image.

On the other hand... If you want to try a whiz version.... get these...

 http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver//contribs/selintra/RPMS/AsteriskForSail-2.1.14/None-ISDN/smeserver-asterisk-1.2.20-5.i686.rpm

http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver//contribs/selintra/RPMS/AsteriskForSail-2.1.14/None-ISDN/smeserver-asterisk-zappri-MPP-1.2.18-2.i686.rpm

ftp://81.149.154.14/Pre-Releases/selintra-sail-2.1.14-492.noarch.rpm

You can be the first on the block to go with Asterisk 1.2.20 and SAIL (you will need the -492 version of SAIL)

Failing that just take the highest .10 release together with the highest .6 zappri release.

They're all in the same ibiblio library.

With these later versions you install 'em, and then simply start asterisk with

/etc/init.d/asterisk start

This will kick off the loader which should figure out which kernel is running all by its little old self.

You can then run PCI to recognise your cards and stop/start asterisk to load the correct drivers...

:-)

I see there's a 1.2.20-6 version. Should I go for that?

Setting up server again...

Maybe a daft question but do we still run:
Code: [Select]
signal-event post-spgrade / reboot
then run
/etc/init.d/asterisk start
or
Code: [Select]
/etc/init.d/asterisk start
then run
signal-event post-spgrade / reboot
??

Thanks

Do the console save and then start asterisk...

No need for post-upgrade...

do

Code: [Select]
signal-event console-save

Then start asterisk

Best
