Hi,

How would I go about setting up routing for two internet gateways (ipcop boxes) for a sme server in server-only mode?

Alex,

That would in part depend on where you wanted the SME server to appear and what its role was.

Do the two IPCop boxes share an Orange zone? a Green zone? If not, you may have a problem.

Is the SME server acting as a mail/web server or just as a file server? or both?

No special configs need to be done on the SME server, this will be behind NAT and the gateway for the SME never changes. I don't use IPcop but the setup would be the same.

The two IPCop boxes (10.1.1.4 and 10.1.1.5) share the green zone, with the SME box (10.1.1.25) sitting in green as well as a mail server.

This is mainly for a backup mx setup, but in future I still want to figure out sending of mail via an alternative red as well (sort of a local outgoing backup mx)

I can set up the forwarding no problem, but I think the sme box doesn't know where to send the reply to.

I could be wrong (and if so someone will surely point it out) but I believe that the SME box will always try to send outgoing traffic through whatever address is specified in the Server Setup as the "Gateway" IP address. There is no opportunity to have a backup gateway specified.
