Topic: Flexbackup to Disk problem

Running an SME V5. Used the flexbackup to disk how-to by Des Dougan. All seemed to go well. Backup seems to have gone just righ.

When I try to restore using the server-manager restore from tape I get the message below:
An error occurred while restoring from tape.

No tape loaded at /mnt/backup.

What do I need to do in order to retore?

It looks like you may not have mounted the share when preparing to restore - the backup process umounts it at the end.

Hello Des,

I decided to wipe out my v5.0 server/gateway and install v5.1.2.

I redid the flexbackup to disk and flexbackup_restore how-tos and everything went much better this time.

I got things to work I think....except for one glaring problem. When I do a backup...everything looks ok per your how-to. But nothing is restored. No user files/data and no ibays.

I have done a reboot.

There is a file limit of 2 GB on restores. This seems to be a limitation of the kernel, based on feedback I had on a bug report I submitted on the same issue.

Were you trying a full restore? Try a selective one and see how that goes.

I did do a selective restore using the following in extract-list:

/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/cron.d/backup
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/ibay1
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/ibay2
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/ibay3
/home/e-smith/files/users

It appeared to go fine except at the end I got error messages about
unexpected end of file: abort? y/n
and dump y/n

The first error would not accept n so I typed y then I got a message like dump yn

I selected y.

User and Ibay files show up when I putty into my server and check directories...but I can't access email accounts in webmail
or ibays, users, groups, in server-manager.

Just wanted to say Thank you for such a great how-to. I will really like the ability to selectively restore...once I get it set right.

I wonder if I am not using the correct syntax when using either ./flexbackup_restore or extract-list

Do I need to add something to restore permissions, group membership, etc?
