Topic: Hardware RAID / Software RAID

I have an Dell 1500SC server and I'm thinking about software RAID vs hardware RAID. Currently I do not have a RAID Controller card but was looking at a Perc 3 RAID controller card for just $50 on eBay. Does Hardware RAID really have a advantage over Software RAID? I think the most important thing for me is reliability. Would anybody like to share some thoughts to that?

NO hardware advantage in SME...
