All outbound ports are being blocked
« on: August 12, 2007, 11:46:32 PM »
Hi People,
I am having an issue with my 7.2 box. Sometime over the last month (after applying an update I suspect), it is now blocking all outbound traffic unless it is proxying it. So the only 2 ports that will go outbound are 80 and 443.
What log do I look at to see what the story is....and what do I do about it?

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks for your time,

IJ

As it tells you (in bright red underlined letters) whenever you post on this forum - don't report problems here.  Use the bug tracker.

No outbound ports are blocked. When you report your issue in the bug tracker, report the actual symptoms you are seeing, not your interpretation of what is causing the symptoms. Thanks.

P.S. Before you report a problem check that the default gateway setting is correct on your LAN clients, and that there are not multiple DHCP servers on your LAN.

Charlie,
No1. Sorry for the post here. I did' not read that bright red letters.
No2. I AM reporting the symptoms I am seeing through a couple of tests including a trace route to an external host and telneting to external hosts on numerous ports (read - I am NOT a complete imbocile and I'll thank you NOT to treat me as such). Those symptoms are that only proxied ports are being allowed outbound. I KNOW this as I am a checkpoint admin and have some experience with such issues!!
No3. I realise that it is probably extremely frustrating when ppl do what i just did but it does not constitute such rudeness on your behalf.

Good Day.
