Topic: SME shows pc-00100 as hostname

Hi all,
I have built one SME server and put on the email add-ons that I require.
I then took an image of the SME server and used the image to load up another.
I have set the hostname and ip address on the 2nd server so that it is unique.
The issue I have is that if I bring both of these two boxes up on the same network, the hard drive lights go on all the time and a lot of hard drive noise. They will not respond very well and they appear to be very busy.
They will respond but very slowly.
I believe that there is something effecting both boxes as they will work well when running individually.
I have noticed that when I login to either box I get the message
"Last login: Tue Aug 14 03:31:27 2007 from pc-00100"

This name pc-00100 does not exist on my network and it is not the host name of either of the SME boxes.

Could this be the issue or does someone have any other idea's ?

Do you have both set as dhcp servers? Configuring your dhcp server

If so, this will cause major problems. You only need one dhcp server in your network (this applies if you are using a router to supply dhcp as well).

pc-00100 means the the PC with the IP address ending in 100 was the last to connect.  That means that the connecting client machine has an IP address of xxx.xxx.xxx.100
