Vacation style response to every email...
« on: August 14, 2007, 08:31:13 PM »
I have a couple access-only accounts, and their email is just forwarded to the admin.

One of those accounts is for our scanners, and I routinely get responses to those messages.  I'd like some kind of 'vacation' message that will be automatically sent to every message received by that account.

Is that possible?  How would I go about that?

Moving this topic to the SME 7.x contribs forum, it is more appropriate there. Thanks!

I have the same issue and all I did was put "Do-Not-Reply@xyz.com" in for the email address in the scanner.

When someone tries to reply (even after seeing the email address) their email just gets bounced back at them.

voila, no more annoying emails.

If you want vacation messages try this ...

http://www.dungog.net/sme/usermanager.php#vac

We use this a lot for ppl going on vacation or leaving ... I just set a response and all the mail that goes there gets a reply that that person is no longer working there or in the case of holidays it has when they get back etc.

pfloor's suggestion sounds like a good one though.

Tib

I may modify the scanner's email address...

I didn't just activate the vacation message because I thought it only replied once to each user.  Maybe that's the way it used to be.  I don't remember anymore...  :)

Thanks!
