Problem Updating from version 6 to 7.01 via CD
« on: August 23, 2007, 05:14:45 PM »
Help Please.  I am fairly new to the world of the SME server.  I have run the CD and followed the instructions for Upgrading.  All went well until everyting was loaded and I got the message to reboot.  On reboot, the machine got as far as the following:

Unpacking Linux OK...rebooting kernel

(I think that is correct as I am away from the server)

Then I waited for 10mins looking at a flashing cursor....nothing else happened.

Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.  Thanks

Alan

Alan,

Could you please report to the bug tracker, and tell us about your server history i.e was this a Mitel v6 or the SME Server v6 ? Also if you could take a picture via digital camera so we can see exactly what the error/issue is we can look in to this more.

Thanks.

I also had a similar issue.  Mine was a Mittel 6.1.x server.  I had to get teh server up and running, so I just reinstalled 7.2 over it instead of upgrade.  Iknew that I would loose anything that was there, but as the person who was takign care of this server, there was nothing I could do.
