Ethernet Cards

Hi Everyone,

I just looked over at the e-smith box here and on the console screen i saw this rather disturbing message

eth1: Transmit Error, Tx status register 82

After the initial appearance it has appeared twice more on successive lines.

Could someone please tell me what this could mean?

I have been having a lot of problems with internet connectivity with this particular e-smith box, which has been working fine for many months (after I replaced a faulty power supply!!) until we moved offices. All the network settings remained the same and a replacement gateway (running e-smith) rules out cabling issues, however it doesn't rule out a faulty Network Card. However, while I was one holiday's someone tried to print a very large document (over 100 MB when spooled, and printing is a rather complicated issue using a Network Printer, Windows NT and WINS. The printer is located on the "outside" of the firewall) which apparently cause the e-smith box to freeze or something like that so I suspect that something happened then, but don't want to  believe that the network card is dead....

The e-smith box is currently being used as a file server with only one network card being used (connected to the LAN).

I'm running E-Smith 3.0 and the network cards are  two 3C905B's.

Thanks

Peter Jeffery
