Topic: disable mail server?

I need to disable the mail server on my sme box since the company chose to use exchange at the corporate office. This is what i have done and where it has failed.

1) Setup exchange server at corporate office (different location)
2) Changed DNS MX record to point to corp ip for mail.
3) Here is where the problem is.

How do I configure SME to not function as email server and still be able to send mail from it's hosted webpages

(seems that all code that sends email on SME server would either bounce or send locally instead of to the new mail server)

Please Help.

Did you try setting the SMTP Proxy to disabled in the Proxy panel?

all email items disabled including proxy and still not receiving emails sent from webpages.

Is your domain set to "Resolve locally" or "Internet DNS servers"?

If you have website to one IP and mail to a different IP then you may need to use external DNS servers.

Can I uninstall the incoming mail server or turn it off during the boot process of the computer? I still need the reports from the cron jobs and when updates are available.

Why not set a 'Delegate mail server' in the Configuration=>E-mail section of your server-manager?

I do this by making sure that the 'native' domain name of my SME is non-routing, e.g. clientdomain.local.

Now I can setup local email accounts to my heart's content, or I can create forwarding rules to forward to clientdomain.org without worrying about the SME swallowing the emails - since they are clearly intended for a different domain.  Emails to anyone@clientdomain.org will go to the appropriate MX for clientdomain.org - no confustion!
