I can't access my ibays!!!! HELP
« on: August 30, 2007, 10:47:12 AM »
OK, so I was trying to get openfire installed so that I could do some IMing internally and with a couple friends and some where during the process something got messed up because now I can't access my ibays.....

(I'm using XP workstations) If I run \\(ServerIP) I get a prompt for a user and password, GREAT! then when I try to access my ibay I can't access it anymore. I used to be able to. So I removed the group setup to have access to the ibay and recreated the group and modified the ibay so that everyone in that group has full access to that ibay and try to access it again and it asks for a user and password but comes back asking for user and password again every single time!!!

I was using http://www.stclair.k12.il.us/tech/meetings/wildfireinstall.htm (I skipped the sql stuff) to try to install openfire as there is no refernces to use to install openfire, just wildfire.

and my message logs indicate something I think as odd....

Are you running SME Server 7 if so please give e one good reason for not following the OpenFire installation Guide and trying to  use a HowTo for SME Server 6 and even letting critical stuff out?

My guess is that your best bet is to try and undo all steps you did in reverse order and then try an follow the instructions in above link.

probably because I couldn't find that installation guide! MAN THAT SUCKS!
So thank you for that link, I'll give it a shot. Worse case I'll reload again  :(

But what do you mean by letting critical stuff out?

I mean the part about 'skipping the sql stuff'.

Well I did that to be sure it was going to work with the server first. I didn't want it to have external access until I knew that things were functioning correctly. Then I would have moved on to adding the SQL stuff.

I think bottom line I need to setting up a test server first so that I can botch the system and not care, well for the most part.

Ah, all right I thought you skipped all of it including the database import... my mistake!

Disregard this post that I made as I found what those red items were, but anyhow, going to save time and a headache and just reload the server and setup a test server to put openfire on. I'll first get it working there, see if it breaks anything, once it's working correctly I'll install it on the operating server and run it from there.

Ty for the help guys, I'll be back later with something I'm sure
