I have updated the Howto including a big warning and clarification of concepts and updated the restore procedures to suit the new "Restore at first startup after a fresh OS install" function.

Thanks,

I was considering just using my standard desktop to cut and past from my ibay to my desktop folder.
I have my SME shortcut to samba shares on my desktop with Ubuntu so I could just copy and past to my desktop and keeping the copy and paste size less then 2GB. But I am guessing this would effect the permissions of those files and again when pasting back to the SME ibays.

Basically I don't really want to do that, but was considering it only because I don't know how to use DAR2

I do not understand how to setup my target in the DAR2 panel
I've read wiki's about UMC format etc. and I'm not even sure that applies to backup to linux desktop.
I've attempted various target syntax's and the backup seems to go into a folder on the SME box /root and creates a folder and the backup sets are inside of there. But I've not gotten it to go to my desktop as of yet.

I have a share setup on the Linux desktop which can be seen by the other desktops and I'm guessing I have to learn how to mount the share on the SME box so that the DAR2 can write to the target. At least I'm fairly sure that DAR2 does not just do it automatically?

Anyhow thats the jist of things currently.
Thanks for any help on this subject.
