Main SME Server to relay mail for 3 different sites
« on: September 19, 2007, 07:57:34 AM »
Good Day

I have a situation whereby I need ( want ) to use SME Server to send, relay mail for 3 different sites around the world.

Site 1

South Africa

Site 2

Portugal

Site 3

Dubai

The main Server will sit at our ISP in SA, when mail for domain.com arrives at the server, it will check for the user on the server and then send it on to the user where ever they are. eg

mail comes in for joe.doe@domain.com, arrives at server at ISP, sees they are situated in Dubai and sends the mail on to the server in Dubai, here they will get the mail and the person will then POP it from a MS exchange box

mail comes in for jane.doe@domain.com, arrives at ISP, sees they are a person in SA and sends mail to server in SA, where they POP it from a SME box.

mail comes in for mark.john@domain.com, .....sends it on to portugal and they then POP form a MS Exchange box.

How will I go about setting up the server to do this...??

Just create the users and setup forwarding addresses in the User setup in server manager.
Of course the other remote servers will need valid domains that are different to the main domain.

I understand that, thanks...but

The users in Portugal, Dubai and South Africa, their email address are all the same, When they send mail out from their Clients side, eg outlook..the mail must all come from the same domain.

....or doesnt it make a difference??

Just configure the required return address in the email clients.
