General phonebook and speedial
« on: September 20, 2007, 09:46:04 AM »
SME 7.2, SAIL 2.1.15-502
1 sip trunkline
6 SIP internal extensions 5000-5005
3 softphones, 1 thomson ST2030, one Linksys PAP2 with 2 analog phone (one fixed, one mobile)

As you can see, the handset group is quite heterogen. Some doesn't have screen.

I would like to set a general phonebook for all of these, and a centralized speedial architecture.

For the phone book, is there any "speaking" possibility, for example, by calling a special extension, finding the right name (with dtmf), and start dialing ?

For the speed Dial, I mean that, everywhere, when I dial 2, it's calling my first client (1 is my wife ;-))

Any Idea ?

Hi there,

That's quite a nice range of devices you have there.

From -507 (2.1.14 ONLY at the moment), there is a central directory for SNOM and Aastra devices.  Only these two phone types are supported at the moment but we are looking at doing something for Cisco and perhaps Polycom.  There is some experimental code in the agi which can, in theory, list directories, but we've never really exercised it or published it.  I will check and get back with you.

As to speed-dial, you can simply set up an alias of 2 to point to your client's number.   This will work for all phones.  You can read up on Aliases and what they can do here...
