Hi Guys,

As I'm typing this I'm sitting on site still, going for gold, been here for 12 hours now...

Have formatted new SME, server-gateway, local ip 192.168.1.1, wan 192.168.1.2 static, gateway ip 192.168.1.3 (router)

dns being resolved locally...

Here is what I get when trying to install ddclient, and no, it's not a ddclient fault..

Code: [Select]
[root@jdflinux ~]# yum --enablerepo=smedev install sme7-ddclient

Taken into account the following...

4MB downline speed.  have an xp box set up connected directly to router.  xp ip is 192.168.1.150, gateway is 192.168.1.3(router) and here comes the only difference i see...

in tcp/ip, dns is set up as primary = 196.25.255.34 and secondary as 196.25.255.3...

machine connects at full speed and has no problem opening any files, when looking at the above code, sme can't even download a 300k xml file...

Have tried setting sme up to use corporate dns, giving it the primary dns, but reading the forum saw the bug raised for it not being removed afterwards and removed it accordingly.

router is set up as static ip, 192.168.1.3, no dhcp given out,  dmz enabled to 192.168.1.2)sme-wan), virtual server ports set to forward to 192.168.1.2 (sme-wan) for ssh, dns, ntp...

Nothing I try works, and I'm stuck 12 hours into this, and still can't figure it out... have made enough calls o know my budget is gone, have done enough searches that I'm getting worried about tunnel syndrome from the reading, and still can't find a reason why sme seems to be non responsive to the internet..

sme starts up, only initializes internet after 15 minutes even though it's immediately available when xp initialises ethernet... and then it's as slow as anything...

again, im not trying to connect xp to sme, im trying to get sme to get a decent connection to the internet...  only difference is that primary/secondary dns set up in ms, and the extra hairballs clutched in my fists at this stage...

Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone is on!

thanks

Riaan

I've just tried to download a 1mb file with wget...  starts running like crazy, all the way up to 40kb/s and then slowly starts dying down, got to about 180kb's total downloaded before it stopped and wget is just sitting there now...

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

As a start,  set your local IP  at 192.168.0.1 /255.255.255.0
You cannot have your local network in the same range as your WAN

If it does not work out of the box, please fill in a Bug Report @ Bugzilla (http://bugs.contribs.org)  - check: http://wiki.contribs.org/Bugzilla_Help .  Thanks.
