Hi All,
I have a very recently updated SME 7.2 with VPN access, SSH and of course HTTPS for the server manager. Its a system about 20 miles away. Whilst I can do the updates and keep an eye on things genreally I have recently shot myself in the foot with the router, a 3com ADSL router. Within the config there are two options of concern in this post ;
1) Access to services
2) ACL (Access Control List)
In 1) You can specify which router services are available to either the local network or to WAN admin (eg HTTP, TELNET)
In 2) You can specify which IP addresses can actually access the router.
I got caught out in that the only option I had in 1) was HTTP - Local and in 2) I added my WAN IP address not realising that clicking apply would exclude any other (even local) IP from gaining any access at all - essentially I locked myself out. (My fault for being super security conscious!)
So, back at base I tried the WAN IP of the router in my web browser which does nothing. Is there any trickery I can do when logged in with VPN or SSH to SME that can fool this router into beleiving I am coming from the address I specified ?
Any help appreciated - otherwise another trip and factory reset
