Serial Printer on COM1 ?
« on: October 23, 2007, 04:53:36 PM »
Serial Com Ports arent listed in server manager pulldown for location. Is this possible?

Its a dot matrix Epson for 3 part tractor paper and is hooked up to the serial port on
the existing box ....

Thanks in advance for any help ...

It's probably possible, but you'd need to work out how to do it yourself. You'll need documentation for LPRng, and maybe a custom template.

The printer had Parallel as well. I put a PCI Parallel card in the server. The chip on it was 'Sun 1888' - the doco mentions Linux.

SME picked it up as 'PC-Style Paraport1' (the onboard being Paraport0)

Amazingly it worked as LPT2 - even though the port reported by dmesg was '8400' ie totally non standard for LPT2 which I think is 378 ?
