Greetings

I have been using e-smith as a gateway server at home for several months now. I use a dial up connection through an external modem to my local ISP. I've noticed when I let the server run for several days I start to get a message on the screen that repeats over & over, yet I'm not shure why or what it is telling me. The message is as follows

tcp_v4_rebuild_header ( ): not valid sock addrs: saddr=00000000 rcv_saddr=00000000

Any one?

That's an artefact of the way that fetchmail is interacting with diald. When 4.0 comes out a newer version of diald is used, and fetchmail is set up a little differently, so you shouldn't see it anymore.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how you can change e-smith 3.1 to avoid this little problem. You could speak to your ISP about using SMTP instead of fetchmail if you need to do something about it. Details are in the e-smith manual.

This bothered me too, until I determined that the mail was going out fine anyway. I solved the problem by turning the monitor off  This provides the added benefit of saving about $2.00 per month in electricity!
