SME unable to find interface dev? [SOLVED]
« on: November 15, 2007, 01:06:22 PM »
OK, so the story goes that I updated SME server to a newer server board from a older Intel S845WD1 motherboard with a P4 2.6 to a PDSML-LN2+ with a P4 socket 775 3Ghz Prescott. I did this for reasons of having gigabit NICs and better over all performance.

OK, so now the problem.... When the machine starts up it looks as if it is looking for a interface device. The screen will scroll

Code: [Select]
interface 'dev*' not found
of course replace the * with random numbers.

And it does this for about 5 minutes before it gets to the login screen.

What exactly is this problem and how can I resolve it?

Please report bugs and potential bugs in the bug tracker. Thanks

If you search there first, you might find this one:

http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3161

Please re-open that one, follow the procedures noted there, and work out how your system got into that bad state.

OK, so I took a look at the bug report but I don't see a purposed fix for the problem that I have. Can someone shed some light on the subject? I'm walking a little blind here.

Thanks for the response guys/gals.

ok, this was a fast reboot...
so the solution was to delete file: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth2
Please let me know if there's a chance to see in any log: where this file came
from...
Thanks!  Stefan
