dar - send log to other e-mail addresses
« on: November 25, 2007, 06:19:29 PM »
In the case of SMEServer as "server only" is there a way to have the results of the daily dar backup job e-mailed to two or more other users?
IE, I know it emails the admin address, but would be great if it could be set up so it could email dan@mydomain.com and tim@mydomain.com.

Thanks for any assistance.

Modify the the admin user, just enter a Forwarding address that is a predefined group. Mind you this group will get ALL admin mail.

Hi Darrel,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
I tried that one earlier, but there is no way the users want all the other admin e-mails.

Any other workaround greatly appreciated.
Just want the admin users to come in the morning, open their outlook, and both get a status of the backup job.

Great contrib by the way.

procmail can do the job for you..
No, you doesn't need to self configure the procmailrc.

There is a very nice contrib from Dungog www.dungog.net created for you.

What you need is smeserver-mailsorting and smeserver-userpanel

go to the site and install it.

after all installed, go to [your-smeserver-ip]/user

login as admin

choose Process Mail and configure a mail filtering and forward based on subject *dar* or anything you want

good luck

I have loaded this up (smeserver-mailsorting-1.2-8.el4.sme.noarch.rpm)
I have found that once this RPM is installed, and I try to do mailsorting for
admin account, when I click save, I get an "Operation status report
Error updateing"

Yet if I do this for a different user, it is successfull.

I have reported as a bug, but if you knew of something else to look at would sure appreciate it,
Thanks,

OK, I created a group called 'managers' I then added myself [a valid user with a forwarding-external address] and the other managers internal address.

I got the DAR log but also got a few mailer daemon errors complaining of a loop
and couldnt really understand why?

The DAR log goes to root / admin -> forwards to managers@ -> goes to both
managers - logic seems ok?

Any suggestions?
