Topic: All Incomming Ports Blocked

can this be possible??? i have been working on this server forever and only just now testing it to go live.

i get no response on inbound but everything works fine from within the internal network (including laptop etc). i have a firewall port forwarding from outside all of the necessary ports to the various servers however anything forwarded to the sme host server fails. other forwarded ports eg 3389, 22 work fine to the other (vm) guest machines within the same damn box but the sme host flat out rejects anthing coming from the outside.

the only thing i can think of is that i did a very large yum update the other day and as the kernel had been updated from X.X.9.smp to X.X.12.smp i recompiled vmware.

i will plug the box in direct to the modem on the weekend and bypass the firewall just to check. i will post how that goes but is there anything obvious i can check in the meantime, logs to read etc. any help at all would be really appreciated.

I would have tried to log in at console or via shell and do a new configuration.

(I think that there is something called private gateway mode or something like that there can give this behaviour.)

If you have done any "unautorized" modifications on the firewall this might also give such a problem. (I used to have this problem a number of times before.)

the firewall is 3rd party, not sme and it port forwards fine to the other boxes. it's just sme server that won't accept anything. i might do a reconfigure but it is in server-only mode already.

hey there arne. it's good to see that the simple things in life that are often the best. you were right. it was the wrong configuration in the console. i forgot to update the gateway on the sme host when i moved eveything live.
