Topic: using an HP digital sender 9100C with SME server

  I have been a visitor to the forums when I hit bumps in the road.  It is a great source of info!   I am wondering if anyone has been able to utilize an HP DIgital Sender 9100C on a network.  I am using SME server 7.3 in server-gateway mode so it handles all email for the site.  I would like to use the digital sender for scanning documents then emailing them much like faxing bur free.  I can connect to an HP printer on the network for copying but cannot get it to send files to any pc on the network or get it to send emails.  Any help would be appreciated.  I am really stumped

You wont get much mileage trying to use the HP 9100 & SME for faxing and scanning.

You need to use the inbuilt Network card and install the HP Director Software on each Windows PC for network faxing & scanning.

You could probably use SME as a Print (only) Server with the 9100 but I am not sure there would be any gains. HP Claim it has an inbuilt Print Server for 15 network users so why work SME harder than necessary.

Like most other HP printer software, its probably full of bloatware too but thats just part and parcel of buying some of the newer HP offerings !

Thanks for the info.  I am using its internal print server now and that is working fine.  The appeal of the unit for me would have been in scanning documents to email.  Is there a product out there that can do this?  I sure appreciate the info.  I am a bit green on all of this - it is probably the fault of SME server as it made it very easy to get a nice system up and running.
