PPTP and bcrelay bugzilla
« on: January 08, 2008, 12:57:19 AM »
Greetings,

I've been using SME server for a while now, and it has been/still is fantastic.  The feature I use the most is the PPTP vpn server to play LAN games with friends.

Unfortunantly, with the release of C&C 3 and its lack of a "Direct Join" option, I've had to start looking in to how to get broadcast packets relayed via VPN.  As far as I've read, this can be done using the bcrelay option in /etc/pptpd.conf, provided that pptpd has been compiled with support for it.

Unfortunantly, it appears the pptpd shipped with SME server has not been compiled with said bcrelay support (the bcrelay command at the commandline gives an error along the lines of "pptpd has not been complied with bcrelay support, you can do this with ./make --with-bcrelay").  I suspect that if I try to compile a new version of pptpd on my SME server I will fail miserably (no dev packages :P).

There appears to be a bug relating to this problem in bugzilla (http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4), but it seems to be very old.

My question is:
Should I comment on the old bug, thus reopening it, or should I create a new bug, or is this so low on the dev's priority list that I should forget it and investigate other options?

Thanks in advance!

Pop a reply onto the existing NFR - you will get the attention of the Devs that way.

Don't open additional bugs for the same thing as this only annoys people who have to trawl through them and set them as duplicates.
