OK, I guess we should now ask for people to state their intention to run for Project/Business Manager. I think there are quite a few people here that would do well in the position, so don't be shy.
What would qualify you to be a good candidate? In my opinion you definitely don't need to be a developer or technical person - as has been proven, development is a meritocracy that will continue even with lack of business leadership. But someone with a better business vision for SME Server would help the development and user community immensely. The Project/Business Manager should be someone with a vision of:
- how to make SME Server a more popular distribution
- how to encourage and reward the developers
- how to collect donations and/or fees from a larger percentage of the community of people that use SME Server
And of course someone with the spare time to do all this... On a personal note, I wanted to continue as a leader, but I just don't have the consistent spare time to spend on SME Server as I used too. I apologize, I think we should have called for elections sooner, but better late than never.
Please state your intention to run in this thread, or feel free to ask any questions if you are considering running.
Thanks,
Quick update:
- No date has been set for the election, and it is unlikely that it will happen before the 28th, although it would still be great to know now who would be interested in running.
- I spoke too soon and it will likely be an election to elect 3 board members again, as that is how it was set out in the constitution and articles of incorporation.
Sorry to jump the gun everybody.
Thanks,
