Antivirus - how to change to other AV
« on: January 21, 2008, 06:01:52 AM »
Hi,

Have anybody manage to change the ClamAV to another AV Vendor. I've bought PANDA and trying to install on SME 7.3. Not trying yet. Looking for any success story? Is there anybody can share their good repo with me.

Thanks in advance

Do you have a reason for not wanting to use ClamAV ?
Did you enable RBL lists to improve spam rejection ?

ClamAV is installed by default. It's working fine.  But I'm just asking if there any successfull installation of other AV in SME. I'm also using the RBL list for spam rejection and not having problem with spam. I've got the SPAM protection at the gateway level (Appliance based - Hardware) and at the desktop level.

Search the forums on antivirus, then click on Advanced search and search again.
You will find many posts that refer to implementations of other anti virus solutions.
You can hook into the qpsmtpd plugins and select a different AV solution fairly easily.

Why would you want to when Clamav & RBL works so well, and having a different AV installed may well cause upgrade issues.

To Answer your question :

I'm happy  () with this SME server. It's a very nice & good solution. Installation & implementation is very fast. So; to get more experience from it's easiness by taking a 'RISK' to do other things beyond it's default. I think that's why the CONTRIB's come in picture. To install an Antivirus on a linux machine is very much faster than a windows machine and very straight forward. But what am i asking for is 'may be there is other way or workaround that been done by others - people who manage SME - and helping me to minimize the risk during installation. :D

Again that answer is not precise enough. What exact Business Edition and why do you think it will work with SME?
