Is your workgroup name in server manager, the same as in all workstations ?
You need to have domain login enabled ie your server must be set as a domain controller, and obviously the workstation operating system must support domains and be joined to the domain.
Some Windows versions do not support domains eg the Home & similar versions.
You need to use the Pro & better versions.

If you enable roaming profiles then it applies to all workstations that have joined the domain and therefore to all users who login to the domain.

Policy group = restrictions to windows desktops, since nt4 are used.
