how to config SME server as a mail gateway
« on: January 29, 2008, 04:10:48 PM »
We're using a SBS2003 & exchange 2003 with 2 network card, one for external(ip range-192.168.0.X), other one for internal(ip range - 192.168.2.X)the existing diagram :
Internet -> fortigate 60 -> sbs2003(exchange+isa2004) -> workgroup computer
If we set SME server as a mail gateway to filter spam+anti-virus & archive all in out mail, can it set it at same external ip range:
Internet -> fortigate 60 -> SME server(mail gateway) + sbs2003 -> workgroup computer,
and how to set a copy of all in out mail from exchange server in SME? Do it need set same email user account?

Your sme server will need to be the gateway.

IIUC, in the scenario mentioned in this thread, gateway services are being provided by the Fortigate box:

Internet -> Fortigate 60 -> SME > SBS2003

Therefore the SME server would be set in server-only mode on the same internal IP range as the Exchange Server. Simply set the Address of internal mail server to the Exchange server.
