For point 2.
Can't they just ftp into the ibay with 
ftp://ibay@ftp.yourdomain.com/ as per the manual 
http://www.e-smith.org/docs/manual/5.1/ibaycustdownload.html?That's certainly how I download items. Do you want them to upload as well? That's a different story, which has been approached a number of different ways in the past. Suggest a good search of the archives for ftp upload if you need it.
