DAR2 - Change the standard email report from admin to ohter user
« on: February 11, 2008, 02:10:19 PM »
Can someone please explain to me how to change the default email from admin (root@domainname) to another user?
With Backup2WS it was easily done by editing this file "/sbin/e-simth/backup2ws".
There I would find "admin" in the end of the file and replace it by the user I would like te get that mail.

I think DAR2 is a beautifull backup app but it will be useless if nobody gets the email report when it has finished (except admin).
The admin is not there all day so he doesn't read his emails every day.

Thanks in advance.

If you want all admin emails forwarded to another address, you could modify the admin profile in the server-manager to forward emails to another address.

Dear imcintyre,

I KNOW that you can forward ALL admin mails but you understand that for a normal user this would be a bit overkill?
They do not want to recieve those mails, just the mails from DAR2 so they can remove the backup disk after backup and take it home with them.
So I want to change ONLY the recipient of the DAR backup script.

Thank you for thinking about my problem dough.

You might want to look at Stephen's e-mail contribs:

Dear Darrel,

I think you're solution is a bit "over bloated", I just need the email send by the backup script to be delivered to an ordinairy user.
She has to disconnect the USB harddisk and take it with her to home at the end of the day.
If she doest recieve a mail she doesn't know the backup has finished.
You understand that sending all admin mails to this user would be madness....?

The mail sorting rules sugested are fantastic (I have another server for that contrib) but not applicable to this problem.
Do you maybe know where I can change this in the script?

Friendly greetings,

Simon
