Topic: Problems accessing wiki and forums - pages not loading fully

For quite a few days recently, I have not been able to access reliably either the forum or the wiki.  Pages stop loading part way or do load at all.  It does not matter which computer I use or which browser (IE or Firefox).

I do not seem to be alone in this. 

Are there any browser settings which need tweaking?  I would be surprised if there were, but since this is a recent problem, I wonder if anything has been changed.  I am not using an accelerator on either browser at present.

BTW it has taken me three attempts to load this page in order to post this message.

What AV are you using on your machine. I have had the same problems with pages
half loading ect; I'm using Norton and have found that if you temp disable internet security then the pages load ok ( with both IE and Firefox)
I have another PC with AVG, no problems accessing contribs site

I've had the same problem here for the last two weeks or so.
Had to disable firewall on pc.
Couldn't find any setting that effected a solution other then disable the firewall completely.

Using CA's Internet suite.

No other problems with other sites.

I wonder how this might be effecting contribs overall.

If you post the same problem here also include what firewall software and router your using.

Seems to relate to the problem.

It may be that the firewall is responding to a recently detected hack and firewall dev's have
included a new fix that is causing this problem and were not seeing it across all websites.

It's either my firewall or something change on the contribs site in the last couple of weeks.

I have had the problem with IE but not firefox (or to a much lesser degree).

I am using Eset NOD32 AV and Agnitum Outpost Pro Firewall.

If I disable the AV software the problem is still there.

However, if I shut down Outpost, the problem disappears and I can access both wiki and forum without a problem.

Your AV software should have no effect at all, it's the firewall
that is effecting the problem.

I also would note to site admin that contribs wiki and forum are effected
and only contribs website, have no problems on other sites.

I'm seeing the problem with IE, FF on XP & Vista.

Changing firewall setting has no effect, disable fw works to fix the problem.

I can access my own sme wiki without problem.

This very well could be turning people away from contribs.org

It does not hurt at all, in fact that is the route you should choose after having issues, so I sincerely suggest you report a bug to the bugtracker as the dev's are reading forums every now and then but certainly not all threads. They do read all bug reports though.

That's correct behaviour, so provide an email address.

as to what it is.
