Translators for: GREEK - INDONESIAN - DANISH - SLOVENIAN - DUTCH
« on: February 19, 2008, 11:08:33 AM »
Please translators, can you complete these missing languages?

Remember if they are not complete, they will be not added to the official support of SME in the next major release.

Read the bug:
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3951#c1

So, it is easy to translate now with Pootle.

Console:
http://translate.unixlan.com.ar/projects/sme7bc/

Panels:
http://translate.unixlan.com.ar/projects/sme7bp/

Before finish, verify translations clicking at "Show Editing Functions", and then at "Show verifications"

Specially "fuzzy" translations.

Normando, I speak some Greek and my mother is "from the old country" and she can help me but I don't use a greek web browser or greek fonts.  Do I need to change my web browser to Greek to do this?

Good news!
You not need to change you browser configuration. The only effect to change the browser language is to view Pootle in the autodetect browser language.

But, you must write with greek fonts, and this is an issue because you must change the keyboard locale in your Operating System and a new greek keyboard to view each key printed with the correct greek letter.
I think It is not very easy, but a it is a very good thing if you can do.

Thank you pfloor

I have previewed the Greek language support of SME 8.0beta1 and would like to aid pfloor with spelling and general language polishing.

Please advise how this can be implemented.

Thanks

see http://wiki.contribs.org/Translations

specifically
"Register and login at http://translate.contribs.org and you can begin with the translations."

ask if things aren't clear

test sme8 in english for now, I'm not sure if it can be easily updated
a beta2 will likely be released with extra language support later

Is there any way to correct recurring spelling mistakes in one pass ? (like substitute xxxx by yyyy in every occurrence)

I have also noticed that the same term is translated differently in various sections.

This may probably be attributed to different translators working in parallel.

How can we establish a common format ?

You can't. If you check the errors you can see these inconsistense.

The only way to bulk edit is to download the PO file and locally edit. Then upload, but this is not allowed.
