Apologies if this is mentioned elsewhere, i did run a search first.
Trying to install PCMCIA ethernet adapter in SME server7, its an SMC8040TX
its not listed in the installation, any ideas gratefully received.
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1246I do have another adapter, an ancient Linksys Etherfast 10/100.
That works for me, now I have a laptop with a broken display run as a SME server 24/7 and reduce emissions. The other gateways I have are running SME also, but they are virtualised together with the main samba server which is also a SME box. I was reluctant to virtualize this too as it has very high email traffic at all hours and power is not reliable over here, and a laptop also have low consumption and a battery to supplement the UPS enough to run the whole week-end together with the switch and media converter and make sure no mails are missed. I reached a point where ISP is much more reliable than the power company...
Lower emissions, easier and more reliable back-up, snapshots at any moment, viartualization+SME rocks. All GPL, just the cost for the hardware...
A big "Thank you" guys...
